That's indeed strange.  

Hmmm.  I'm going to take a strange guess.  Do you happen to have the
linux kernel driving installed/running on your machine?  You can check
by seeing what kernel modules are listed using 'lsmod'.  I'm wondering
if their driver is interfering with the FreeIPMI driver.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to punt to Bala.  I'm not quite sure what
error conditions could cause the SDR downloads to halt part-way.
