Did you definitely try the "solpayloadsize" workaround?  That workaround
specifically handles this error:

(ipmiconsole_processing.c, _check_payload_sizes_legitimate, 2080):
hostname=spapl0002; protocol_state=0x8: payload sizes invalid:
max_inbound_payload_size=1024 max_outbound_payload_size=1024
