Trying to use FT as a vector rasterizer is probably not the best
thing, especially since it is limited in that regard (no line caps or
joins, no dashes, etc). May I suggest that you consider something like
ImageMagick (http://www.imagemagick.org) which is open source, available
for numerous OS platforms and even uses FT2 for type rendering!
