Is there a particular reason you are not using the newer pango-1.2.1 release?
No, other than my distro shipped with 1.0.5 so I stuck with it when recompiling my own. I didn't notice it since I was looking at the gtk/v2.0 directory on ftp.gtk.org when I was downloading. I managed to trick the system into compiling somehow. I think installing my compiled pango-1.0.5 then reinstalling the rpm's fixed it - though I can't explain that.
