I've been writing a module to let VLC (www.videolan.org/vlc) render text on
the video during playback using freetype2. I'm making good progress, and
this will be the default method for rendering text-based subtitles on video
in the next release (0.6.1 which will be out soon), but I have some questions:
1: How do I set the default font? I whould like this to work out of the box
on at least windows, linux, mac os x and BeOS, preferably without having the
user telling me what font to use. Do anyone know some way to find good
default fonts on various OSes?
2: No single color will allways be readable when rendered on video, which
changes color all the time. Our old code used a bitmap font that had a black
outline and white fill color. Is it possible to do something similar to that
with freetype2?
Last I whould like to say thank you for a wonderful library.
Sigmund
