GNU Education section

<p>Je suis le nouveau volontaire pour la section éducation du projet
GNU. Je suis également l'auteur Dr.Geo et Dr.Genius et un membre
fondateur d'OFSET, une organisation pour promouvoir le développement
de logiciels éducatifs libres.

<p>Je tiens à remercier Vladimir Tamara le volontaire précédent de
cette section pour son travail.

<p>La première tâche que je souhaite accomplir c'est la transformation
du projet Freeduc d'OFSET en projet indépendant GNU.  De la sorte,
j'espère que le projet attirera davantage de volontaires ainsi qu'un
nouveau coordonnateur.

<p>Le but initial du projet Freeduc était la création d'une
compilation de logiciels à caractères éducatifs. Il s'est peu à peu
transformé au cours des différentes discussions avec des
personnalités de la communauté. Dans l'état actuel sa méthode de
travail est de&nbsp;:

<ol>
<li>Repérer de nouveaux logiciels libres&nbps;;

<li>Recenser ces logiciels dans Freeduc tout en vérifiant leurs
licences en tant que logiciels libres&nbps;;

<li>Créer des paquets Debian&nbps;;

<li>Coopérer avec Debian pour la mise en place d'un projet debian-edu.
</ol>


Grâce à la souplesse de Debian -- notamment le système de
méta-packages -- il est possible de créer des installations types par
niveau scolaire par exemple.

A terme nous disposerons ainsi d'une distribution Debain dédiée à
l'éducation très puissante et libre -- mais ceci est redondant avec
Debian.

<p>I am the new volunteer for the GNU education section. I am also the
author of Dr.Geo and Dr.Genius, and a founding member of OFSET, the
Organization for Free Software in Education and Teaching.

<p>First, I want to thank Vladimir Tamara for his work in this
section. Vladimir was the previous volunteer of this section.

<p>The first task I want to conduct is the transformation of the
Freeduc project at OFSET as an independent GNU project. By this way I
hope the project will attract more volunteers as well a new
coordinator.

<p>The main goal of the Freeduc project was the creation of a free
software compilation for the education field. The way to conduct this
task has slightly changed in contact with personalities of the
community. Actually the task follows this guideline:

<ol>
<li>To seek new free software;

<li>To add corresponding entries in the Freeduc database while
checking the software license is a free one;

<li>To build Debian package;

<li>To cooperate with Debian to start a debian-edu project.

<ol>

Thanks to the Debian flexibility in packet management -- specificly
the meta-package system -- it is possible to set up dedicated
installation for different grade level.

At the end, we will get a free -- it is redundant with Debian -- and
powerful Debian distribution dedicated to the education.
