I also would like to find out more.
My programming skills (C, C++, Perl etc.) are completely self-taught.
I have no programming/IT qualifications other than 3½ years writing
Free Software, and I would like some sort of qualifications. I'm not
inclined to study for another degree full time, having recently
finished a degree in Molecular Biology, but I thought studying
part-time with the OU while I am working (when I finally find a job)
would be ideal.
Unfortunately, all their courses, including their programming and
development ones, all seem to be totally geared towards MS Windows,
rather than any open standards like SUSv3/POSIX, or even ISO C or C++.
All their course materials require a PC running MS Windows.
If there are any courses out there for programming to international
standards, I would be very interested to know more. I'm certainly not
willing to fork out for an OU course of dubious value (to myself).
Regards,
Roger
