It would be a good idea, in my opinion.

I am sure that it would be possible to have at least 1 small news item
each month, even if it is only a reminder of dates of upcoming events.

Ideally, we should get something like this as part of online "members
directory".  I'd like to propose a BOF session on "members directory"
(really, free software for running organisations).
