Mark Rodgers has offered to set up an affinity scheme with The Phone
Coop to raise money for free software in the UK from supporters'
spending on calls or internet. Payback is 6%. I've met Mark and I
trust him to do it, for what it's worth. Full details can be read in
the ALUG archive at
http://lists.alug.org.uk/main/2005-April/021442.html
What do fsfe-uk list subscribers think of this?
I see this as complementary to UKFSN.org - I suspect that the payback
rate from UKFSN will be higher (time will tell) for ADSL, 0845 and
hosting, while you don't need to register to use the UKFSN
international calls service, but The Phone Coop also offer UK calls
and unmetered dialup. I think The Phone Coop may also offer line
rental, so you could avoid BT Retail entirely (until they break the
law by junk-mailing you despite being told not to).
