I've just been researching this myself.

The most promising thing is http://www.openezx.org/

Then there's http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/BlueAngel

There's not much else out there. I emailed ImCoSys when they announced
the handset a couple of months ago, and they said they would not
support freedom.

Probably next year, basically.
