Dan,

Did you try with the original build system, or with the new build system? To build with the new system, you have to go into the for59 directory and execute ./migrate, which will create a new maxima directory next to the maxima-pre59 directory. I'm really not sure how that would work under windows. The migrate script is only a temporary thing -- we'll have the new module soon.
