OK.  I hereby suggest a documentation patch to cover the socket API!
Note: this doesn't mean I'm volunteering to actually _write_ this
documentation! ;-) ;-)

FWIW, I would categorize it as "theoretically nice to have, but so far
down the priority list as to be practically invisible".
