Yet another option.  But ahead of this one, we have a native mac os-x
port in the works which might be slightly more awkward to operate at
first.  I think we're at the point of getting the last patches into
the soon to be release 2.5.4 branch of CVS, and then testing the build
with maxima and/or acl2.  Our mac os-x guru is Aurelien Chanudet cc'ed
above, and might have some guidance if the fink option doesn't work
out.
