Greetings!  Yes, the error you're seeing has been fixed in the latest
gcl stable release (2.6.1), available at 

http://people.debian.org/~camm/gcl.

Please let me know if problems persist.  

Unfortunately, we still do not have access to the gnu ftp site to
update the official tarball.
