Hi,
Here are instructions I received from Camm Maguire in September 2013,
which I think I used most recently two months ago. The last line does
the compilation from sources, as you desire.
git clone git://git.sv.gnu.org/gcl.git
cd gcl/gcl
git checkout Version_2_6_13pre
./configure --enable-ansi && make
