Sounds related.  However, I'm root for both the copy and the ls.

I just checked for the existence of one of the files, and surprisingly, it did have both a file in namespace as well as the actual data on one of the shares.

Plenty of other areas in zoneinfo were also affected.  Is this a glitch in
hardlinks?
