Hi,
I have something similar to what you have done. But I used gluster 3.2.6, and mount gluster volume as directory. Finally redistribute that mouthing point through NFS (native kernel NFS) to another team, who will connect their VMware Vsphere to this mounting point and store all VM image in this directory. All work without any issue. However, we tested with map NFS with mountproto=tcp option directly to gluster, and it works without any issue as well. But we need redundancy so that we run NFS server in cluster.

Another thing you may need to check if there any iptable rules block those traffic as I experience NFS can be mounted by can not be used if there iptables block some udp traffic.
I hope this may help you.

Cheers,
PP

What is happening with this ?
Non one actually care to take ownership about this ?
If this is a bug why nobody is interested to get it fixed ? If not
  someone speak up please.
Two things are not working as they supposed, I am reporting back and
nobody seems to give a dam about it.
Hi Fernando,

If nobody is replying, it's because they don't have experience with your
particular setup, or they've never seen this problem before. If you feel it's a
bug, then please file a bug at http://bugzilla.redhat.com/

You can also ask questions on the IRC channel: #gluster
Or on http://community.gluster.org/

I know it can be frustrating, but please understand that you will get a
response only if someone out there has experience with your problem.

Thanks,
