Nobody had anything to say, so on December 7th I put up http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.3/3.3.1/UFO/gluster-swift-ufo-1.1.tar.gz — a snapshot of the ufo subdirectory of the glusterfs source tree.

As described in my previous email, this represents the work we did to clean up the UFO implementation; to unfork Swift, if you will. The swift.diff was reduced to just the Constraints-Config backport patch. What remains of the implementation now consists of, in general, subclasses of the Swift DiskDir and DiskFile classes. In conjunction with that, last week I respun RPM builds for Fedora and EPEL using the new source. RPMs for Fedora and EPEL are in my fedorapeople.org YUM repository. There are RPMs for Fedora-18 beta which will be appearing in the -stable repo shortly, and RPMs for Fedora-19/rawhide are available in koji. These are the glusterfs-*-3.3.1-4 RPMs.

We're not standing still though. Today I respun another set of RPMs, this time using OpenStack-Swift 1.7.4 (Folsom) as the basis for UFO. As before RPMs for Fedora and EPEL are in my fedorapeople.org repo. RPMs for Fedora-18 beta are in the -updates-testing repo and will migrate to the -stable repo when the testing period is over, and RPMs for Fedora-19/rawhide are available in koji. Thise are the glusterfs-*-3.3.1-5 RPMs.

After the Christmas holiday we're tentatively planning to release UFO 1.2, with several bug fixes and performance improvements.

My fedorapeople repo is at http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/kkeithle/glusterfs/

My updated blog article on setting up UFO is at http://www.gluster.org/2012/09/howto-using-ufo-swift-a-quick-and-dirty-setup-guide/

Give it a try and let us know what you think.
