I know Yann LeCun has the binary data. I can't imagine that going away any time soon. It's an easy enough format to parse. But I agree, having that as a resource would be good. ImageNet would he useful but I don't see many people wanting to download that much data.

Zenodo, which is a partner of CERN and even give the upload a DOI for
