couldnt you just +x update-chroot, rather then readmes/licences/etc?

I didn't realise some of those were +x - they aren't in this change. I'll do it in the change after.

Nope, they aren't executable.

Change submitted (plus minor fixes), and wiki updated. Note that you must now run EVERYTHING as root.
