It would be nice if we could come up with a short catchphrase that just about captures the essence of the project (like "Linux for Human Beings"). That should be on the front page, with some fancy design (didn't we already have a new design by the way?) and the logo. Slap some buttons on there to link to:eg "Free as in Freedom", which is on the splash screen when you install? kk
D'oh, I already forgot about that one (look at me, taking freedom for granted).
On the one hand it might not be obvious to a beginner how freedom and 'some computer program' are related. On the other hand it might be an incentive to click through to find out more. Like "Linux for Human Beings" it references a friendly, familiar, positive concept (Human Beings/Freedom). Unlike it, there's no scary unknown (Linux). Our catchphrase is also more to the point, less fluffy.
OK, I've convinced myself that it's good (although I knew that already). Lucky thing, because it's too late to change it anyway. :)
