Here's what Netflix says are system requirements:

      Watching instantly on your computer

Our apologies — instant watching is not supported for your operating system.

Note that your current Internet browser is fully compatible with adding
titles to the Instant Queue for later watching on compatible devices.

      Complete System Requirements

To watch instantly, you'll need a computer that meets the following minimum

  * Windows
        o Windows XP with Service Pack 2, or Vista
        o Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 2 or higher
        o 1.2 GHz processor
        o 512 MB RAM
  * Mac
        o An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.8 or later
        o Safari 3 or higher; or Firefox 2 or higher
        o 1 GB RAM

Me, again. Do I need to buy Windows XP in order to use one of the several ways to watch Netflix on my sNewSense computer? I read about a Mac emulator being able to get around the MS obstacle, but I don't know what an emulator is, and if I'd still have to buy the Mac OS. This computer was given to me, and it had Windows XP on it. I've formatted the hd to get the microtrash off it, but now that it's gone, I could use it for Netflix instant play. But I
don't have the CD. Anybody got a solution? I'm a technodope.

You could try a free browser add-on called "User Agent Switcher" to
spoof Microsoft Windows/IE on the GNU IceCat (the completely free
software version of Mozilla Firefox.)

The tutorial on how to install IceCat:

I had just about given up hope for watching 80 movies a month for $26. I'm retired, I have the time, hate tv...

So I'll try what you suggest, although in an unbuntu forum, i read about one guy trying that, and it didn't quite work. he had a problelm with directx code or something. but i'll give it a shot, 'cause that's a lot of really good movies!!

I'll letcha know how it goes for me. thanks!:)

Hey Ali, i typed what you said, in the terminal, and i was told it can't find the package. i used add/remove feature, did a search for icecat and Gnu Icecat. Used synaptic manager, did the same thing. nada. no program. no icecat. it ran off with the icedog?
