Los Alamos laptops come with wifi adapters that require nonfree
software to function. They pre-install only an older version of
gNewSense in which that particular nonfree device driver wasn't purged
yet.
Also, the term "100 % free software computer" doesn't apply to them or
any mainstream PC's since they all contain nonfree BIOS'es. (Lemote's
Yeeloong is one exception here.) However, we all need to buy computers
somewhere and if you're unable to get a Lemote computer I suggest
buying a laptop with Atheros wifi. (They sometimes come under
different names. For examples, IBM or Lenovo Thinkpad wireless cards -
not the Intel ones - contain these Atheros chipsets.)
