Hello,I've been interested in marketing gNewSense since it's pure free software and nearly all-inclusive. I've been mentioning it in comments I write to stories on popular websites like Cnet, Zdnet, and Slashdot. If we are to let more people know about gNewSense comments like these can help bring in users that never would have been exposed to it. To not be simply spamming, they do need to make sense in the context of the article at hand so it's important to write them well.
In regards to the use of the word marketing, the word market is on the list of words to avoid on the GNU site(that's linked to the gNS site) but the concept there is just not see users as a market that we want to penetrate. It's a social movement about freedom so I think it's always best to mention gNewSense as the best way to have freedom while using your computer.
Lastly, I think if we are to have some sort of campaign where we contact publications, there should be a list of the largest publications of any type, the contact info for each, and who's responsible for contacting whom, the result of each contact, etc. I'm thinking of a light CRM type webapp. I don't know of or have experience with anything specific here but SugarCRM comes to mind though there's probably something lighter.
