Well, what puzzles me, is that there are many, many other users out there who have this firmware working, and most of them seem to run into no (or relatively few) issues. I still do want to try to get my card to work again, so I'm very much still open to suggestions.

Out of curiosity though, what would be some of the "best" wireless card models for a 'Free' system?

I am hoping to find a bit of guidance on an issue I've been having. I just installed gNewSense 2.3, and went through the process of setting up my wireless adapter (Broadcom 4311 rev. 01) - I used the guide that Leo Rockway wrote here:

I have used this method in the past with no ill-effects. It has worked for me in Debian, Ubuntu, and gNewSense before. However, this time it's giving me a continuous output of error messages. I have attached a portion of dmesg as a file. This section of dmesg just keeps repeating over, and over again. I'm really at a loss, but would like to get this working as quickly as possible. Thank you all for your time and effort!

This has traditionally relied upon non-free software for its operation, so b43 has probably been removed from the kernel.

The OpenFWWF site claims that that their goal is to provide an open source firmware for Broadcom/AirForce chipset based devices, but their site goes on to say that to make the firmware work properly you need at least 2 more files that must be extracted from original Broadcom drivers: b0g0bsinitvals5.fw and b0g0initvals5.fw.

This makes me wonder if it truly is free software. May I suggest replacing your WiFi card with one that is better supported by free software?
