Once Java is install you may need to go into OpenOffices Settings and
point it to the now installed java. The setting is located under
open oobase
tools->options
expand OpenOffice.org on the left of the dialogue
select Java
wait a sec for it to enumerate the Java engines on the system
make sure Sun Microsystem inc. 1.6.0_0 is selected.
Click OK
