Check your dmesg.
My guess? The flash disk is mounted read-only because it's damaged.
That kind of terminal corruption is rare but not unheard of (I've seen
gpg do it when I didn't use --armor).

Happened here, right?
Hypothesis: One of the unicode characters got mistaken for an ANSI escape code
(or something)
and mucked up the text in your terminal. If that's the case...it's harmless,
annoying, but not permanent.
Definitely not due to autorun.inf. If gNewSense (and Ubuntu) see that
something was "intended to automatically run" you would be prompted.
If you wish to test this, find some proprietary software CD with an
autorun file, and insert it into your machine. You should be prompted.
The program should never start without your consent. (The fact that it's
some proprietary software for some proprietary operating system means it
will never run, but that's not actually that important.)
You don't have a virus or malware. You have a busted flash drive.
