A couple of things... a) Is Gnewsense still using Open Office? Will they change to Libre Office in a near future?
The current stable version has OpenOffice.org and the next version will too. Note that there hasn't been a stable release of LibreOffice yet.
b) which version of VLC is in the repositores? I remember the one that vame in the previous Gnewsense was rather old, and had some issues with some DVD's
0.8.6.release.e+x264svn20071224+faad2.6.1-0ubuntu3.3gnewsense1I noticed some issues with some DVDs too, but that seems to be not much better in recent versions of Ubuntu. I blame crappy discs.
c) It is possible to watch youtube videos in Totem? I remember doing so in Ubuntu 10.10, but I'm not sure if I need to download propietary codecs to do that. Also, I'd like some advice to substitute flash on IceCat (I mean, being able to browse through flash site withouth the flash plug-in).
I believe it's possible to watch the MP4 files from Youtube with Totem. If I have to watch a video from there then I usually use TinyOgg [1] myself.
To browse through a Flash site you need *a* Flash plug-in. gNewSense provides Gnash for that.
