Is gnash installed?
If not, install it and see if it works.
# apt-get update
# apt-get install gnash

I did a 'apt-cache search cups-pdf', this package is there in the main repo.
Can you run
# apt-get update
and then check if the package is available.

Yes. Provided the dependencies for the respective .deb package are met.
