Haven't you forgot to initialize ``data'' correctly? The following code
snippet should work:

//GSM_Statemachine      state;
//GSM_Data              data;
//GSM_PhonebookEntry    entry;
//GSM_Error             error;

GSM_DataClear(&data);
entry.MemoryType        = GMT_ME;
entry.Location          = 0;
data.PhonebookEntry     = &entry;

error   = SM_Functions(GOP_ReadPhonebook, &data, &state);
