I don't think it does. If gnokii can't use AT directly, does it emulate  a modem to talk to the phone using AT?

do you mean os x developer tools, I have these installed. All I have installed for gnokii is the os x binary (thank you again for that!) in /usr/local/sbin/ and my gnokiirc config file in ~/
