Debug Version is called gnokiid.lib / gnokiid.dll ( and gnokiid.pdb ) Release Version is called gnokii.lib / gnokii.dll In a windows environment its normal to have such naming conventions. M$ uses same naming for mfc42.dll and mfc42d.dll
