configure error : gnokii-0.6.0

Hi,
I downloaded 0.6.0 version and tried to install. I got
the following error

configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in
$PATH

Means that my system doesn't have a 'C' compiler.
How do I install 'C' compiler?
I'm using Redhat Linux 9.
