Right,

Is this spam / a virus?

The IP in the mail headers doesn't match the URL given (if it is even a valid 
name) it matches a Wanadoo address.

Not that I can open the attachment anyway (I'm running linix so I concidered 
the risk to be quite low...)

Though the email address seems valid, however it is advertised as a mailto 
link on his homepage :-)
