smsd: duplicate sms with concurrent arrivals

hallo.
I have a duplicate sms problem with smsd, GNOKII Version 0.6.10
It seems the same problem that Charmaine Tian reported (in: 
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gnokii-users/2004-01/msg00116.html )
The source code of current version already contains patches suggested
there. 
The problem comes out when many messages arrive at (almost?) the same
time.

smsd gives lots of errors like:
Event 1 failed with return code 8!

does someone have any suggestion?
