-d, -f flags to getsms inoperable

I am using gnokii-0.6.8 on Mac OS X 10.4.7 (DarwinPorts). My modem is
a MultiTech MultiModem GPRS (Wavecom chipset):

Manufacturer : WAVECOM MODEM
Model        : MULTIBAND  G850  1900
Revision     : 651_09gg.Q2426B 1478872 070705 14:15

The command:

--getsms SM 1

works fine, but when I add the -d option the message is not deleted. I
notice in the debugging output that AT+CMGD=1 is never sent; the diff
of the debugging output is the same whether I use the -d flag or not.

Any suggestions?
