I'm using Gentoo ebuilds, where 0.6.13 is not available and there's 
no USE flag to enable debug output.
I'll try those tomorrow with sources.

Just one more note, I do get an 'RfCOMM connection' message in the 
gnapplet screen, even with 0.6.14, but the phone seems to never 
reply to the identify request.
