Firstly thanks - but what has Java got to do with this? (not trying to 
be awkward...but not seeing the Java connection here... yeah I know... 
these phone newbies...)

$ gnokii --identify

but:

$ gnokii --getphonebook ME 1

Error: Unknown error - well better than nothing!!

...err - uninformative error msg alert :-) ... where to from here?
