The trial and error involved wasn't pleasant, but I eventually used the following:
before attaching the CA-42 cable I did: modprobe usbserial vendor=0x0421 product=0x0802I then attached the CA-42 cable and Nokia 5140i and used the following .gnokiirc:
[global] port = /dev/ttyUSB0 model = 6510 initlength = default connection = dku5 use_locking = yes serial_baudrate = 19200 smsc_timeout = 10 [gnokiid] bindir = /usr/local/sbin/ [connect_script] TELEPHONE = 12345678 [disconnect_script] [logging] debug = off rlpdebug = off xdebug = off gnokii --identify then eventually returned: address@hidden:~$ time gnokii --identify GNOKII Version 0.6.14 IMEI : 3XXXXXXXXXXXXX1 Manufacturer : Nokia Model : 5140i Product name : RM-104 Revision : V 03.75 real 0m9.883s user 0m0.008s sys 0m0.016sI can supply debug output if needed, but would appreciate any better settings for the Nokia 5140i handset and CA-42 cable and *not* using AT commands.
