it looks like you are using an old version (a newer version would have printed 
an hopefully more informative error message)

the command syntax is: --getsms memory start [end]
where "start" MUST be a number, "end" MAY be a number or the literal 
string 'end' (without quotes)

gnokii --getsms SM 1 end
will probably print all your messages to stdout

if you need more help, please update to the latest version, read Docs/BUGS and 
don't assume that everybody can read French error messages!
