E220 on Ubuntu

Hi

    I am using xgnokii (got using sudo apt-get install xgnokii)  on 
Ubuntu9.10 Linux and E220 (Huawei3G card).

I see that xgnokii is using multiple AT commands and getting responses. 
When I click on "sms" on xgnokii
I start to see "Input/Output" errors  and then onwards the errors stop 
i.e every second  or so it prints the error.

I have cut and paste the error. 

Is this a known issue. Can someone give some help
