I'm afraid I can't be much precise as my tests are from more than a year before.  I had some other options at the time, so I didn't insisted much on the e220. In reality it is a rebranded e220.
As far as I can remember, after i get it to be identified correctly, it simply ignored any sms. It would not send anything, --smsreader would not show any messages coming. As it wasn't easy to make it work on windows with the software that came with it, and as at the time I got the 6600 fold that I use now, I ended simply leaving the e220...
