Hi all,

  this is a proposal for a GNOPPIX roadmap. The main goal of GNOPPIX is
to provide a linux distribution that is as easy to use as possible.

V0.5.4-2 (this noon)
  * we have a nice installation script now
  * gnoppix is localizable, simply pass lang=lg to the lilo boot
    prompt and it should work. If not, please create a patch
    against /etc/init.d/credativ-config and send it to us.

V0.6 (mid oct)
  * Installer
    Fabian and I are currently working on a nice graphical
    installer that looks gnome-ish and is easy to use.
  * GNOME 2.4
    James is currently working on a GNOME 2.4 backport for woody.
    The backport he's currently working on is for GNOPPIX only
    because we're all working together with the Debian GNU/Linux
    team. They're going to provide GNOME 2.4 in Oct/Nov for Debian
    Sid. As we want "apt-get dist-upgrade" compatibility we have
    to wait for Woody-GNOME 2.4 until then.
    Maybe we can remove lots of stuff from the desktop if the
    multiroot treeview of nautilus includes that stuff.

V0.7 (nov/dec)

  * look and feel
    We still need people working on themes for GNOPPIX. We'd love
    to have our GNOPPIX-specific look like any big distribution
    has. Someone has already started working on an icon theme for
    GNOPPIX [1]. If you want to help, contact us in #gnoppix on
    irc.gnoppix.org (FreeNode Network)
  * customization
    there is a knoppix-customize script to make changes to knoppix
    (like the default language) quite easily. We'd like to support
    that for GNOPPIX too.
  * gnoppix tools
    There are lots of nice things missing for GNOPPIX. I currently
    plan to have an additional GNOPPIX menu in GNOME's application
    menu (additional to the Debian menu) that contains some gnoppix-
    specific stuff like the installer or other GNOPPIX related stuff.

V1.0 (late northern winter/early spring)

  Let's try to have a customized GNOME 2.4.x on a stable Debian Woody
(maybe Sarge if it gets stable fast enough) that really rocks. So if you
have thigs that could be improved please contact us or try to fix
it/improve it and then send us how to do that for gnoppix.

Comments requested,
  Sven
