Then Linus should provide a discipline to follow if he wants one
followed. Then if he changes his mind later, he can change it. If he
had chosen "explicit", he could not. You can say it shouldn't be that
way and I'd agree with you, but that's the way it is.
If he _knows_ he wants explicit and never wants to change that, fine.
He can do that. But when it comes to arch, Linus obviously doesn't know
his elbow from his asshole. And in _that_ case, his options should be
left open.
