I just commited a simple info file to CVS listing some aspects of the
next gen 3DKit, some dependencies, design ideas and so on. This is
only the beginning and will hopefully sometimes turn into a complete
document. Right now I'd like to keep it simple (and in ASCII) though.
Feel free to add content (but please keep it simple, do not write
long books) or discuss open issues in this list.
I can't find the file in CVS -- I found it on the website well enough.
RenderKit has sharper boundaries now; that works for me. The challenge
now seems to be to define an interface to the renderer bundles that
works smoothly and efficiently (and quickly).
The file is in the HTML part of the tree - as is the entire website.
Do you want to concentrate on RK and design the interface abstractly,
or build RK and a basic renderer side by side, designing the interface
through iterative implementations?
The GL renderer will certainly be the first proof of concept. Although
the challenge will be not to fall back into GLisms. In general I tend
to favour to design first - but of course this does not mean that the
interface is thereafter fix forever.
