[open-cobol-list] Cobol Expression

Hi folks,
   I'm translating a Cobol code to SAS code and I couldn't convert the 
following expression:

IF WS_SBU_SUB(4: 1) = 4 THEN

  WS_SBU_SUB is a variable but I do not know what the expression means. Can 
anybody help me?
