As a test, I wanted to run a total of 30 games of level 1 vs. level 10,
each side getting black half the time. Here are my command lines:
perl twogtp --black '/usr/local/bin/gnugo --mode gtp --quiet --level 1'
--white '/usr/local/bin/gnugo --mode gtp --quiet --level 10' --games 15
--sgffile /d/tmp/gg/level1black --komi 6.5
perl twogtp --white '/usr/local/bin/gnugo --mode
gtp --quiet --level 1' --black '/usr/local/bin/gnugo --mode gtp --quiet
--level
10' --games 15 --sgffile /d/tmp/gg/level1white --komi 6.5
Here are the results:
Level
1 10
White 4 4
Black 11 11
According to this, level 10 can't beat level 1, but GnuGo plays stronger
as black. Am I doing something wrong? Is the level maybe not getting set
correctly, or does it just not improve things much?
Thanks!
doug.
