Excellent point as it hits upon the weakest conceptual point
in the current Archive implementation.

Why have I not spent time on that yet ? Because the BLOBs data
is essentially read only with import serialized via a
dedicated script run from cron. I know, there is still
trouble ahead, eg. when someone deletes a patient the script is
currently importing BLOBs for etc. There just hasn't been a
compelling case yet. But that case is getting much closer with
the recent integration of the viewer plugin into GnuMed proper.

Yes, I do need to work on such issues there.
