If you can automate building the packages I'd suggest this: Do
monthly or even weekly builds that are clearly labelled as
auto-builds/dev packages but also do triggered builds of
"useful" versions. For now, Sebastian may be a good candidate
for deciding when a triggered build is due. Later on that can
be done by people that are recently getting active here.
