I wondered why a multithread bug was thought of when accessing the 
encounters list,
so I tried locking around list access, and remove the use of the Queue 
to see if that would
fix the ghost edit control bug, and it didn't work. It's got something 
to do with overriding
the default behaviour of editLabel end editing., not accessing the 
encounters list.
